Free School Meals

As you may be aware the Government introduced universal free school meals for all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children in schools.  At Norwood we have provision for a hot meal or ‘High Five’ lighter lunch option.  Please see menus under the News & Events tab above.

The government initiative of Pupil Premium is still very much an important focus for schools.  Each child entitled to Pupil Premium triggers addition funding of £1345 for schools to target additional support and enhance provision.  Any parents/carers living with children can qualify for this funding. Parents/Carers need to be in receipt of any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

  • Universal credit, provided they have a annual net earned income not exceeding £7400.00, (£616.67 per month)
  • Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190
  • Working Tax Credit 'run-on' - the payment someone may receive for a further four weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

In addition to your child receiving a free hot lunch each day, the school will receive Pupil Premium which will enable school to offer reductions on school trips and other chargeable items and full reduction on school clubs.

If you think you may qualify for Free School Meals and have not completed a form, please download a form below, complete and either scan and email to or return to Miss Fletcher in the school office who will be able to support the process of your application to the Local Authority.  All applications are in complete confidence.
